I don’t know how everyone else is feeling this autumn, but I feel like it only started 3 hours ago and now is almost over. The running countdown at the top of this page haunts my dreams; but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Having the opportunity to be a part of such a worthwhile program is one I still can’t quite believe I’ve been trusted with.
This week saw a start to our volunteer screening and some of you may already have received a phone call from me. To the rest I say this; get ready, I’m coming for you too. We’ve also had a substantial spike in volunteers registering online, thank you for making that commitment this winter. We still need at least another 80 to registered so tell your friends, family, colleagues, sales clerk, barista etc...
I’m calling for all those insomniacs out there to sign up for the overnight shift, it’s going to be the most difficult to fill but absolutely imperative in order for us to deliver. I’m calling for those of you who can’t commit to hours but can tow a trailer from one place to another. Those people who love a chat, whose partners or kids are always wondering how a conversation can last that long! We want you too!
This week also saw our equipment managers getting seriously stuck into making sure we have bedding to provide our guests. This is going to be the greatest expense the program will see, if you don’t have the time but have the dollars and wish to contribute please click that donate button, or contact our project manager directly.
Food, shelter and dignity. That’s the goal of this program and it is only through your gifts that we can achieve it. Thank you for that support.
Please continue to pray for our committee as we work to deliver by June 1; and praise God for those churches, business and community groups that have donated space, money and resources.
